My Favorite Thing After Coffee? Road Trips!
If there’s one thing I love just as much as a good cup of coffee, it’s hitting the open road. There’s just something magical about packing the car and heading off to explore somewhere new. That’s why I started my Road Trip Series…to share all the fun, scenic, and unexpected moments from exploring the Southwest and beyond.
Today’s adventure takes us to a hidden gem nestled right on the border of Arizona and Nevada, hence the name Aravada. This rustic retreat offers cozy cabins, traditional teepees, and an oasis pond, all surrounded by wild desert beauty.
I’m incredibly thankful to the lovely people at Aravada Springs who gave us such a warm welcome. From their friendly smiles to the personal tour of the campground, they made us feel right at home. We were gifted a peaceful one-night stay and honestly, it felt like a breath of fresh air. Exactly what we needed!

What is Aravada Spring?
Aravada Springs is a family-owned campground and retreat spot located in Southern Nevada, just two and a half hours from Las Vegas. Tucked away in the Virgin Mountains, surrounded by red rock cliffs, and wide-open skies. It offers a perfect getaway! The property is off-grid and intentionally remote. It’s perfect for travelers looking to unplug, unwind, and reconnect with nature. During our stay, we were fortunate to call the Flora Deluxe Cabin home, adding even more comfort to our peaceful retreat.
Whether you’re camping under the stars or exploring nearby hiking trails, Aravada Springs offers an authentic back-to-nature experience. I recommend ditching your phone and soaking in the silence. It’s exactly what I did!

A Hidden Desert Escape
One of the most magical things about Aravada Springs is the landscape itself. The journey getting there is part of the adventure! At one point, the paved road gives way to a rugged dirt road. If you’re driving a low car like we were, expect the last stretch to take a bit longer (slow and steady wins the race!). But if you’ve got a 4×4, you’ll cruise right through without a problem.
We arrived just before sunset. That same evening we were greeted by the most beautiful full moon I’ve ever seen. From the top of the hill, it felt close enough to touch.
In the morning, we watched the sun rise over the mountains while birds chirped. And yes, a curious deer even wandered by…truly a storybook moment. At night, the stars come out in full force. With no city lights around, the sky is pure and endless. It was the kind of peaceful quiet you don’t realize your soul needs until you’re wrapped in it.

In addition, it’s a good idea to come prepared. Bring your own food, and even your own pillows and sheets if you’re staying in one of the cabins. There’s a main cabin on the property with a full kitchen that’s perfect for cooking big meals, especially for family reunions (which Aravada is known for!). We heard this spot is popular for large gatherings because there are so many activities for all ages. There’s even a tiny zoo on-site where we got to see cows, turkeys, pigs, and horses up close!
There’s no shortage of things to do at Aravada Springs! A disc golf course loops around the campground, perfect for a casual game with family or friends. If you’re up for exploring, several scenic hikes branch out from the property. One that leads you right to the Arizona border. And get this: if you just kept walking endlessly, you’d eventually reach the Grand Canyon. How wild is that?
Back at the main cabin, there’s a cozy playroom where you can unwind with card games, watch TV, or simply soak in the view. And of course, one of the most popular features of Aravada is the freshwater pond. An oasis where you can kayak, swim, or just cool off after a fun-filled day under the desert sun.

Why You Should Add Aravada Springs to Your Road Trip List
If you’re planning a road trip through Nevada or Northern Arizona, Aravada Springs is a hidden gem worth adding to your itinerary. Whether you’re road tripping solo or taking your family on a desert adventure, Aravada Springs offers a little something for everyone:
- Unique accommodations (teepees, cabins!)
- Friendly hosts who truly care
- Nature as your playground (wide open spaces to explore, roam, and unwind)
- Wildlife sightings and stargazing galore
- A peaceful, soul-soothing atmosphere
- A refreshing oasis pond
- Quality family time (great for reconnecting without screens or distractions)

Final Thoughts: Unplug, Unwind & Explore
This was my very first campground experience, and I honestly had the best time. If you’re someone like me who’s enjoyed a glamping stay before like my unforgettable experience in Utah (which you can check out here) then you’ll absolutely love what Aravada has to offer. I hope this post inspires you to take a break, unplug from technology, and spend a day (or more!) surrounded by nature, fresh air, and peace. Whether you’re kayaking on the oasis pond, hiking to the Arizona border, or simply enjoying the quiet, Aravada Springs is the perfect desert escape.
