5 Easy Fall Outfit Formulas to Wear on Repeat

We all have those mornings when we stare at our closet and think, “I have nothing to wear!“. That’s when I fall back on the outfit combos I know will never let me down. Since autumn in Las Vegas isn’t your typical cozy-sweater-and-scarf season, my fall looks are all about light layers with a touch of seasonal color.

Hopefully this post, gets you EXCITED for fall fashion! Here are the 5 outfit formulas I swear by when I don’t know what to wear. These simple combinations make getting dressed a whole lot easier and cuter! I can’t tell you how many times these outfits have saved me. Too many to count! hahaha!

Outfit #1: Side Stripe Pants + Oversized Jacket + Mules

Woman wearing a chic fall outfit with an olive green military jacket, green top, white cropped pants, black loafers, and a beret walking confidently on the street.

This is my go-to fall outfit when I want to look put together but still keep things comfy and stylish. First, side stripe pants instantly add that sporty-chic vibe. Secondly, an oversized jacket keeps the look effortless and easy to layer for autumn in Las Vegas. I love throwing on an oversized tee underneath as well. It’s relaxed but still works perfectly with the whole look.

Now, let’s talk accessories. During the fall, I’m drawn to all kinds of add-ons, especially hats. Honestly, a cute beret is my secret weapon (oops not so secret anymore!). It takes any outfit from 0 to 100 in seconds! Also, the beret always makes me feel “Parisian chic”.

And the mules? They’re basically slippers in disguise. Comfortable enough for running errands, but polished enough for coffee dates or casual nights out. That’s why this outfit formula is a no-brainer for me on days when I have no idea what to wear.

Outfit #2: Monochrome Everything

Side-by-side fashion looks for fall: on the left, woman in an all-white off-the-shoulder top with ripped skinny jeans and wedge heels; on the right, woman in a bold red sweater and slit skirt with sneakers and a brown crossbody bag.

If there’s one trick that always makes me feel instantly polished, it’s going full monochrome. Whether I’m head-to-toe in crisp white or bold red, there’s just something about sticking to one color. It completely makes the whole outfit look sleek, intentional, and way more put together than it actually is. The best part? Monochrome outfits naturally give off that slimming effect…extra points for that, right?

What I love about this formula is how easy it is. On those days when I have no clue what to wear here is what I do. I just go into my closet, pick a color, and run with it. Top, bottoms, jacket, accessories…everything in one shade (or different tones of it), and suddenly I look like I had a full-on style plan.

Fall makes monochrome even more fun because I can mix and match textures to keep it interesting. Think a cozy knit top with a leather skirt in the same color, or a silky blouse with tailored trousers for a chic vibe. It’s simple, stylish, and works for literally any occasion.

Outfit #3: Pencil Skirt + Crop Sweater + Long Puffer Jacket

Woman wearing a stylish fall outfit with an olive green puffer coat, rust cropped sweater, beige skirt with slit, gray ankle boots, and a white handbag posing on concrete blocks.

This combo is honestly an autumn dream for me. I just can’t get enough of it! There’s something about pairing a sleek pencil skirt with a cozy crop sweater that feels equal parts chic and comfortable. It gives me that “I planned this” vibe even when I totally didn’t. hahaha!

Cozy sweaters are always a go-to once the weather gets chillier, but I like to vamp them up so they feel a little more styled. When I’m struggling to pull a full outfit together from my closet, I reach for a sweater. Wondering why? Because I know I can dress it up effortlessly. I recommend you try that next time you’re feeling stuck.

The long puffer jacket is the final touch that makes this formula feel so perfect for autumn. It adds warmth, and that cozy vibe we all love once fall really kicks in. Plus, it balances out the crop sweater and skirt combo, so the whole outfit feels modern and fresh.

Outfit #4: Leggings + Tank Top + Suede Jacket + Sneakers

Woman in a chic fall outfit wearing a rust suede jacket, white tube top, black leggings, and black sneakers, leaning stylishly on a fence in a desert landscape.

Leggings will always be one of my closet staples! The trick is finding ways to dress them up so they feel chic. This is my favorite leggings outfit idea for fall: a sleek tank or cami top layered under a cool suede jacket. It’s the perfect mix of casual and stylish, and it instantly takes leggings from lounge-wear to a full-on outfit.

I love reaching for this combo on days when I want to feel the comfiest but still look put-together. The suede jacket adds texture and polish. The cami keeps things lightweight especially for autumn in Las Vegas. Finally, the sneakers finish it all off with that easy, casual-cool vibe.

Outfit #5: Off the Shoulder Sweater + Ripped Jeans + Combat Boots

Woman in a stylish gray off-shoulder sweater and white ripped skinny jeans posing in front of a traditional red Japanese pagoda surrounded by lush greenery.

Sweaters are truly my autumn love language, and I always look for ones that feel a little different. An off-the-shoulder sweater is one of my favorites because it’s cozy but still has that feminine, flirty vibe. It’s not your basic knit. It feels special while still being so easy to style.

Here, you don’t need to overthink it. Pair your sweater with ripped jeans for that perfectly undone look. Then add combat boots to give the whole outfit a little edge. It’s the kind of outfit formula that looks effortlessly stylish but is made from pieces you probably already own.

So the next time you’re standing in front of your closet wondering what to wear, this combo is ideal.

Out of these five autumn outfit formulas, which one is your favorite? Do you lean toward the cozy sweater looks or are you more of a sleek monochrome fan? And tell me…what’s your go-to move on those days when you’re staring at your closet thinking you have nothing to wear? I’d love to know in the comments!
